Remember when computers were 1mhz or less? Remember when we didn't care about processor speeds? This site has histories for all those old computers. Which one did you have growing up?

We had a Commodore 64 at home and at school, we had 2 Commodore Pets. There was nothing like playing Oregon Trail on the Commodore Pet. In middle school we had Commodore 64s and then in HS, we had Tandys.

We had a Commodore 64. Man, I tried to revive that thing, but couldn't find the A/V plugs. I wonder if mom still has it?
We had something (I don't remember what it was) Gordy bought, then a Tandy we got as a demo in Florida. It's so funny---you don't hear those names much anymore. Tandy.
Nothing like the Commodore PET with the tape drive loading up your games. Start it up and come back in about 15 minutes to play. Awesome.
I remember riding my bike over to the house in Chestnut Hills and playing games on your 386-20/40. Push the Turbo button and BOOM!! that thing was like lightning. You had that thing forever. I also remember our PS/1 w/ the 30 MB harddrive. That thing cranked.
I can remember playing Magic vs. Bird on my C64 w/ the FastLoad cart in the back and playing SimCity with the ablilty to print out my city on Dot-Matrix printer in about 45 minutes. It printed a zoomed in view that you had to patch together to view your city. There were some pretty damn cool games for the C64. We used to go over Coucilmann's and play over there while jamming to Beastie Boys' License To Ill.
On a seperate, but similar note, remember playing Madden '93 on the Sega Genesis? When someone got run over, "Boom!! Where'd that truck come from?" or the ambulance that comes out and runs everyone over when an injury happens. You'd used to piss off the 'rents below when you cranked up the stereo while playing that. Good stuff.
Stu - Yeah, I remember all that. We used to play John Madden Sports Talk football on the Sega. In college, I remember driving to Novi to buy NHL 93 with my scholarship money. Remember hacking the Summer Games flags. The USSR flag said KOVO.
Jen- Between the parts I have and the parts you have, we should be able to get a C-64 up and running. Did you read the stats on the Commodore?
I also remember driving to Circuit City in AA to get 27GB WD hard drives. Believe it or not, mine still is running like a champ alongside my 160GB. It hosts my OS and pics and music.
Ahhh yeah, the 27gb drive is set aside for disaster recovery.
C64 Joystick you plug into TVFound this on CNet. All the fun of a C64, none of the hassle of cleaning the attic to find all your parts. Interesting that the "retro" computer/arcade games are coming back to life. With an internet connection, a few hundy, and a Dremmel you can build custom stand-up arcade boxes that run linux and MAME to play all your favorite classics in one box.
I still like turning on the old C64, but this definately simplifies things.
Yay! That does make things easier!
