I should have known that this was a lost cause. Lloyd Carr has lost the road opener for like the last million years. Notre Dame is a rival. Notre Dame was looking for revenge for last year’s 38-0 loss at the Big House. The game was being played in South Bend. Michigan was starting a freshmen QB. The Wolverines always lose at least one game to someone they shouldn’t. Even after taking all these reasons in to account, I still came to the conclusion that Michigan could, no wait, should win this game. After all, Notre Dame sucks this year. Heck, they lost to BYU and looked terrible in the process.
So, I set aside the time to sit down and watch the game and for about half of the game, it looked like it would be time well spent. Sure, Michigan was not looking very impressive, but hey, they were shutting out ND at half time and Rivas had made every field goal he had attempted. We were well on our way to winning this game. Then came the second half. Contrary to popular belief, you do have to play a whole game to be considered the winner. The Irish came out and quickly scored a TD. Ok, it is 9-7, but our offense has to come to life soon. Well, that was not to be today. Why, you ask. It is because of the luck of the Irish. Actually, it wasn’t. It was because Lloyd Carr didn’t open up the offense. He played the same old conservative game that kills us at least once a year. You should have learned Lloyd. You have been on the coaching staff long enough. Argh…when it became 21-12, I turned it off and went upstairs. By this time I am not in a good mood. The day is ruined and I wasted my time watching something happen that I should have known would happen. I am a sucker and I will be a sucker again next year on September 17, when Michigan plays a team that has yet to be announced. Don’t worry ABC, or whoever televises the game, I’ll be watching, just please give me some good commercials. Oh well, at least Brian, Chad and Billy are around to ride 4-wheelers with.
I feel some of the same pain and frustration! Here I was so excited to be watching a Michigan game............they were actually televising it here in Raleigh..........not ACC but BIG TEN!! What a disappointment!!! Where were the mighty Wolverines??? Is this the same team that I saw play the weekend before?? I started channel hopping by the beginning of the 3rd quarter and finally shut it off by the time we had 5 minutes of play left in the 4th...........I'm only glad that I haven't had to explain the loss to the UPS guy and the Airborne Express driver yet today.............I am sure I will be hearing alot of "guffawing" from the boys!! But I will just look them straight in the eye and say "Hey!! How about them Lions!!"
ReplyDeleteWow! I understood the last sentence about the four-wheelers... Football-ese is not my fluent language. But I am loving the new Miller Lite commercials out with the ref and the couple on a date, fishing, on the beach, etc.
ReplyDeleteI am partial to the Viagra car, but then again, I also don't watch NASCAR. I think anyone who drives around with VIAGRA written on his car has to be pretty secure with himself.
