The first Ebay iPod sighting.

Well, the sale was yesterday and it only took a little more than 5 hours for the first person to try to make a buck on their iPod purchase.

VW iPod Auction

Someone should send this guy an email to tell him that it has a VW logo on the back. He should advertise that because it may give him more money.

UPDATE: Here are 2 more tools selling their VW iPods on Ebay.

iPod idiot #1 - This guy doesn't really have an auction, he just has a Buy Now price. No Bidding. Send him an email and ask him why he wants $286 for something he paid $69 for.

  3. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the term "Factory sealed" imply that the whole BOX and EVERYTHING has been sealed and has not been opened? Tool #2 sure the heck looks like he opened that box on up and took it all out! Wha???

  4. I'd love to send these guys messages and mess with them.

Me: "Factory Sealed" means you haven't opened the box you n00b. I would have bought it except you opened it you waste of oxygen. Where were you when they handed out brains? I can meet your reserve, but only in pennies.

Tool: Uh... I got it at work for cheap.. you want it or not?

  5. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has done this, but I did e-mail the guy and say, "Uhhh.... doesn't look factory-sealed to me!"

    Dude.

  6. Doesn't "factory sealed" imply that you don't open the box? I mean- how can you expect me to bid on an item that contains the false advertising of "factory sealed" when your picture CLEARLY shows you opened the box all up and took the items out? Oh yeah- why do you want me to pay the reserve if you got it from VW for only $69?

This is what I typed for "ask seller a question". :)

  7. Ok, this is the answer I got back when I asked a question:

    You asked:
"Can I use this iPod with my New Beetle? Does the iPod have any special markings on it?"

Yes this can be used with your Beetle. The iPod does not have any special markings.

Riiiiight. He must have not opened it up.

  8. Mandy - What was your reply???

  9. What markings are on it?

The guy e-mailed me back saying to "read the copy...." and the one shown is his personal iPod, and that he stated that in his description. Uhmmmm, I don't think so. Besides the fact that his description was revised to make sure everyone knew he wasn't selling the opened one after others pointed it out to him.

  10. He gave me this response:

You are right, factory sealed does mean the box is not opened and that is exactly what I am selling, an unopened factory sealed unit. Is there something wrong with the copy I wrote?? I CLEARLY state that the picture shows an opened unit, but the one being auctioned has never been opened.

I agree with Jen that he CHANGED the copy from all the questions we sent him. What a tool. I mean, c'mon!

  11. It makes me angry that he is accusing me of not reading the description. He sent me, I thought, a kind of catty reply.

He DID change it, am I right? And not just to add emphasis to something already written?

  12. Completely right. His reply to me was also a little catty. Probably doesn't like all the questions. :)
